I teach/have taught 4th and 5th grade closed classroom and specialized classroom, 6th, 7th and 8th religion, Physical Education 8th grade over the last 14 years. I currently teach 7th and 8th grade religion.
I like to mix things up. If not, I get bored to easily but I never forget that repetition is the mother of learning. I combine a mix of traditional teaching with brain based learning. Too much of one or the other is not good for students but one style is much easier for the teacher than the other. I like cooperative learning with Kagan structures, Depths of Knowledge questions or Bloom's Taxonomy, Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, and hands-on activities. I believe student's work should always be displayed.

I learned the rewards of teaching through coaching basketball at basketball camps out of high school. I enjoyed teaching young kids and found out I had a good personality to develop good relationships very early on. I earned teaching degrees to coach but over time and with wisdom found even more reward teaching in a classroom setting. My passion today is passing on my faith to my students and community. God's grace has blessed me and I want to give back everything to him and glorify him. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife of 10 years and 4 beautiful children, 3 boys and 1 girl. My hobbies are shooting my bow and arrow, hunting deer and turkey, fishing, and coaching my kids.
