HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

While returning to Springfield, Illinois where I taught for 34 years at Southeast High School, I ran into a student that I had in class. He was working as a clerk at a motel. He told me that people say, "A wise man once told me...," but he says, "Mr. D., my teacher, told me..." He said that he loved his job and remembers what I told his class: "I hope all of you get a job that you love as much as I love teaching." I guess at least one of my students met that aspiration.
