TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Zubi Flyer from FuzePlay is a STEAM Toy designed for K-12 computer science programming. We FUZE skills gaps by providing an integrated technology platform that universally focuses on developing real-world skill sets aimed at cutting-edge technology. FuzePlay’s hardware platform FUZE’s play by allowing all online experiences to be taken offline and into the real word, thus creating opportunity for global citizenship and peer-to-peer sharing. Our approach is simple, put futuristic technologies into universal toys and teach through play while leveraging free, open source tools that are familiar to educators and commonly used inside the classroom. We are high-tech for the non-tech and make learning tech as easy as 1, 2, 3, Build Hack Play.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Out of the box you can play frisbee around 12 fun games. Early learners follow instructions and learn logic and critical thinking through the sequencing of shapes and numbers. Zubi Flyer games are multisensory and designed for physical play. Level up by connecting to Scratch and use Zubi Flyer as a controller for your online interactive Scratch story. After familiarizing kids with text-based language, level up again by connecting Zubi Flyer to Arduino. Zubi Flyer graduates learners from logic oriented game play to block based programming and on to text based scripting in an intuitive open source development environment. Receive an introduction to computer programming and computational thinking by applying problem solving around computing practices, computer components, and programming development environments. Design for kids, Zubi Flyer allows parents and educators to close skills gaps regardless their level of technology literacy. FuzePlay brings toys to life by teaching tech through play!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Welcome to the world of FuzePlay! I designed Zubi Flyer to connect you with your child through cutting edge, frustration-free, technology. SHOCKER, parents don’t know it all. Without a background in tech, I often felt frustrated and overwhelmed raising my 2.0 kids. I have spent hundreds of hours googling their futuristic tech questions, and hundreds of dollars on educational toys to satisfy their curiosity - all in the name of motherhood. Sadly, most of the products ended up sitting on a shelf, or my kids ended up spending more time in front of a screen than outside exploring the world! After realizing I wasn’t alone in my parenting throes, I started an EdTech company with my brother that makes high-tech accessible for the non-tech. Together we FUZE online + offline play, and parent to child in a simple way that anyone can understand. Now you can forgo the hours of valuable time fumbling through the unknown and instead connect with your child through meaningful play!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Kristy Sevy is so fly. (And purple hair is just the beginning.) It’s been almost two years since she started FuzePlay, an edTech company that helps kids “build, hack, play.” Their premier product, the ZUBI Flyer, will officially soar off shelves this December. But Sevy’s mission to disrupt the industry and inspire a new generation of kids in the world of coding is already off-the-charts smart. Before FuzePlay, Sevy was a stay-at-home mom with three daughters and no business background. She read the stats about how girls over the age of 10 were being culturally pushed out of STEM — and those stats were so not cool with her. Now, Sevy is learning on the job, taking names (like literally, with a STEM Builder Program for moms), networking like a boss, and throwing naysayers (and frisbees) to the wind.
