TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an educator for 26 years. For the first 15 years of my career, I taught fifth and sixth grade. During that time I also worked for World Class Learning Materials, Inc as a freelance author and created Geometry Quizmo®, Math Vocabulary Quizmo®, Base 10 Fraction and Decimal Work Cards, and many other educational resources. I have been a teacher of the gifted and talented for 11 years. This includes several years of teaching STEM to second grade and many years of teaching accelerated math in students from grades 2-5. My most important, challenging, and rewarding job is raising my children. They have inspired me to make life fun and to never stop exploring and learning new things.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prefer to teach using a variety of styles with thought-provoking activities that include inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and higher level thinking. I often use a hands-on approach and encourage creativity in my students. Since I have extensive training in learning styles and multiple intelligence, I make sure my students are getting a well-rounded lesson. I try to make learning fun and my students know that I care about them individually. I like to make games for my students so they learn in a fun manner.
