I am in my 15th year of teaching art in Georgia. I have worked with little guys in daycares and elementary schools, but I am currently expanding the minds of teenagers. The daily hormones and popularity shifts with new YouTube trends keep me on my toes. I am sharing my tips and tricks that keep my students engaged and creativity focused.
My goal is to develop creative critical thinkers who understand the complexities of the art making process and appreciation for a variety of art forms.
I am currently my local school's Teacher of the Year and have held this title at my previous Elementary School.
As a kid, I always had a mixed reputation with learning. I loved certain aspects like problem-solving and mathematics but struggled with reading and writing. With the tag team efforts of my amazing mom and endless teachers, I was able to see my learning disability as a power. I didn't intend to become a teacher, but it has been present my whole life. From teaching swim lessons as a youngster to working as an Assistant Director of my college dorms, teaching and caring for people were my natural traits. I finished my B.F.A with concentrations in printmaking and art education in 2005. And continued my graduate school studies after my first year of teaching with my Master's in 2007, Specialist in 2011, and my Doctorate in 2015. It has been a bumpy road, but I am a better person and teacher for all the life moments.
