I was a teacher for 27 years. Reading and spelling were my specialties. I have two sons who are dyslexic. Many years ago I joined the International Dyslexia Association and attended many of its workshops and conferences to learn how to teach students who have reading and spelling difficulties. I learned about Orton Gillingham methods and used those in my classroom. All of the children benefited. My workbooks in my store are based on the Orton Gillingham approach.
I used a differentiated approach in teaching reading. All children in my classroom were reading at their appropriate levels.
