TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching in a strategically resourced facility for children with Autism for the past 12 years. I love my job, teaching children age 4-11 years old. With a vast range of differentiation and abilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

During the morning session, Literacy and Maths is covered using the TEACCH work system, then followed by letters and sounds activities, singing linked to numeracy to promote language, turn taking and interaction with peers and finished with individual computer software programmes. In the afternoons, the children carry out activities that include Creativity, Cooking, Science,Technology and all other areas of the Curriculum.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1999. I then gained experience in schools, before setting my heart on working with children with Autism. I have a Foundation Degree in primary teaching, HLTA status and have achieved the professional studies in Autism. Working with various non verbal children, I am also PECS trained.
