I teach grades 6-8 special education. I have been in the education field, in the Southern California area, for 10 years. I have experience from general education, honors and special education. I have worked in all content areas, but specialize in English, History, English as a Second Language and Art.
When I am teaching, I strive to create engaging activities for diverse learners. My classroom is based on projects and student interactive notebooks. I integrate art, technology and group work in most of my lessons. I use a great deal of technology in my classroom (i.e. iPad, document camera, projector, film and multi-media). I set high standards for my students regardless of their ability and needs.
I enjoy helping teachers and inspiring them to engage students. I have facilitated professional developments and workshops for teachers regarding classroom management and using technology for instruction. I have done workshops for my faculty and California State University of Northridge.
I come from a family of teachers. My mother and sister are 7th grade history teachers, my father is a 9th grade science teacher. It was destined for me to be a teacher! After graduating, I majored in Fine Arts for my Bachelors Degree. I earned my teaching credential in Special Education.
