TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started teaching high school in 2001. I have taught AVID, World Studies, US History, US History AP, European History AP and US Government (Civics) and AP Comparative Government. I have taught in both private schools and public schools. I have taught in both urban and suburban schools with students from a very broad cross section of society. I have taught ELL students who came from Central America on their own (remember those news stories about children immigrants?) and students from the top income earning families in the silicon valley in the same day. All of my posted lessons have been tested, revised, tested again, revised again before I posted them here for sale. My students liked their learning experience and I hope that your's will too.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use a blended style as different students have different needs. Typically, I will start a unit with lecture, always giving students guided notes, then ask students to apply what they have heard and read to help them gain mastery over the material. Creating fun activities in the classroom that build community and foster student learning is something that I do well. Oh, I should also mention that I use digital devices almost all the time with my students now too. To that end, all my products can be easily formatted for print by adding additional spaces for larger handwriting, but are formatted for digital devices in their current form. I hope that you will enjoy these lectures and activities in your classroom too!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Los Altos High School was awarded the Gold Medal Ribbon from the state of California in 2015 for its adoption of technology. I was the teacher chosen to receive the award for our school at the state-wide ceremony as I helped our campus move towards greater technological integration in our classroom by both training my colleagues and by writing grants to get chrome books in all classrooms on campus. I also worked at Sacred Heart Prep from 2020 to 2024.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
