TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 19 years of teaching high school English. I have taught several years of 10th and 4 years of 11th grade, but at least 9 of the 19 years has been teaching freshmen. I spent 4 years as a PLC lead for my team. I also did the assessment writing for our team used to build common assessments. I worked 2 additional years as an Academic Coach/Literacy Coach training teachers. My work ranged widely from training new teachers in classroom management to teaching an entire staff (including PE teachers) how to write in their classroom to support the Common Core initiatives adopted by my school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Children come first. The work comes second. If you foster relationships with kids, they will work for you. I stand by the idea that who they are as people comes before who they are as scholars.
