TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As of the 2022-2023 school year, I am in my 19th year of teaching. I teach all subjects, and I also established our school's grades 4/5 Technology Club. I spent ten years as a fourth grade teacher, and this is my ninth year as a fifth grade teacher. I established my domain, Teachingvision, when I taught fourth grade, which is now evolving into Edmaginarium! Although I enjoy teaching all the core subjects, some of my passions are hands-on science (completing investigations, experiments, and engineering challenges), infusing creativity across the curriculum, using technology (introducing my students to great websites as well as incorporating 3D printing, coding, and using various makerspace materials), and cross-curricular writing. I also love showing students how math and science connect to the real world, and our classroom library is a wondrous place where hopefully students grow to love books for the rest of their lives.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands-on, real-world experiences are AWESOME. Enough said. =)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was honored to be chosen as Scholastic's national teacher advisor for grades 3-5 for the 2009-2010 school year. Besides that, I have attended Tweetups through the Smithsonian and NASA. Best of all, though-- and this is purely opinion-- I am a Space Camp for Educators alum, which is one of the coolest things I have ever had the opportunity to do!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Flagler College in 2004 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach grades K-6.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to being the court jester of an incredibly scientific fifth grade realm called Jasztalville, I am also a grades 4-5 Technology Club advisor! The Maker Revolution is occurring at my wonderful school!
