TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello Fellow Teacher! I have taught a range of English courses from 6th to 12th grade, such as sheltered English 1 and ELD 1/2/3. I currently teach American Literature and an Expository Reading and Writing Course, general English courses at a high school that is a national Blue Ribbon school, one of the nation's top-performing schools. I choose to be with students who struggle the most because they should have the best teachers. I am a former Teach For America corps member and have been teaching since 2010. I have a background in teaching science and English, so I have a strong understanding of informational text, research, and writing. In 2019, I earned my doctorate in Educational leadership from UCLA and wrote my dissertation on personalized learning. In short, my students are diverse in their ability levels and I work hard to personalize their experiences. Therefore, I scaffold the heck out of everything!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Learning should be rigorous and fun! I am a staunch supporter of scaffolding instruction so that anyone can reach the highest levels of thinking. It is only when students master higher level thinking that they truly fall in love with learning. Once again, scaffolding benefits all students (including all special student groups)!!!
