Many moons ago I taught at a preschool. This was my first "real" job. I fell in love with nurturing children and helping them grow. It was amazing to watch their young minds make connections, solve problems, and constantly question the world around them. From there, I began my college journey. And wouldn't you know it, I had my mind set on becoming a teacher! Shocking, right?! After six years of college, I finally graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. The school that I completed my student teaching at is the same school I work at now. I began in third grade, and that's where I've been for the past five years. Other than testing, I really enjoy teaching this grade. The students' are independent, but not hormonal . . .yet. I truly love what I do.
When planning out my week, I try to include different approaches to my teaching style to make sure I meet the needs of all the students in my classroom. I am very much a visual learner, so I have the tendency to teach that style much more. I've also recently been researching 'whole brain' learning. It looks like something that I may incorporate next year to help with my kinesthetic and auditory learners. Not to mention, it just looks like fun!
I'm honored to be a teacher.
