TEACHING EXPERIENCE

15 years in middle school teaching a variety of subjects: Leadership, Cartooning, Arts and Crafts, Digital Media Arts, Architectural Design, Fashion, Survey of Art, and STEAM. I also taught Art 1, Art 2, AP Studio Art, ATA (Art Technology Academy) classes and Multimedia Sculpture in high school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I employ many growth mindset strategies in my room. Learning is about trying new things, making mistakes, making a mess and coming out better, stronger, smarter, more capable. Oh! And it is okay to be silly and laugh while you learn. I also spend a significant amount of time ensuring that my room is a safe space fostered on mutual respect. Walk into my room and you are immediately loved and accepted. I enjoy the spectrum of personalities and approaches to art-making that I get to see every day in my classroom. Anyone that walks into my room is immediately accepted and loved. I believe in being brave and trying new things as creating is an act of bravery. Be new, be unique, be a leader. Stand up, stand out! RAWR!
