I’ve been teaching in the classroom for over 12 years, and it has been such an incredible journey. I started out in my early twenties teaching in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. From there, I’ve taught in Florida, Venezuela, and New York at an International Baccalaureate school before moving to Illinois in 2016. Here in Illinois, I taught freshman World History and volunteered at my church teaching 5th grade religious education. For the last couple of years I've been back in a Catholic school teaching religion and social studies grades 6-8. I love it!
As cheesy as it sounds, I really do try to make learning fun and meaningful. The ultimate goal is to help students become lifelong learners, so generating that curiosity is key. I do this through simulations, projects, games and rotations with the older kids. Experiential activities build longer-lasting connections which will serve them well in higher learning. On the other hand, I do believe that kids benefit from hard-work (classic research and note-taking, etc..) and once they have the skills they need, they gain confidence and a genuine love of learning.

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in History and Political Science before I got my Masters in Education at Duquesne University. During Covid, I got my ESL endorsement which really taught me best practices for all types of learners.
