TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Alex has over seventeen years teaching in grade four, five, and six classrooms, all in the public education system of Ontario. Catherine has taught in the primary grades for all of her career. She is Reading Recovery trained and is passionate about early literacy.

MY TEACHING STYLE

We believe that a good classroom is safe, and that all students should feel that they play a role in the learning process. Students are encouraged to take risks, and the curriculum should be delivered so that all students can access it at their own level. A constant emphasis on learning skill development in conjunction with academic growth produces learners who are not only scholarly but worldly as well.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Alex is a Tribes certified teacher, and was nominated for Educator of the Year in Ontario.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Alex has a bachelor of arts degree from University of Toronto, and a Bachelor's of Education degree from Ontario Institute for the Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Catherine has an honours Arts Degree and a Bachelor's of Education from Queen's University. She has written her Master's Thesis on the experiences of primary educators in combined grade classrooms as part of the Master's of Education from Western University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Alex and Catherine enjoy traveling and spending time with family and love taking cruises as the vacation of choice.
