TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 11th year teaching. I've taught Reading Intervention, 8th grade US History, highschool Geography, World History, AP World History, Ethnic Studies and for the past 6 years 7th grade World History.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to engage my students as much as possible and make each day different from the next. My lessons have a quick pace with multiple transitions to keep kids engaged and shifting gears as to not get bored. We do a lot of writing and document analysis but find ways to make it fun as much as we can. It's really important for my kids to be able to take away skills like map reading, analyzing documents, forming arguments, finding evidence, and writing thesis statements rather than testing them on random facts and dates. Our assessments are all skills-based but they do have little quizzes here and there where their knowledge of the content is tested. Simulations, debates, role-playing activities are usually the things that my kids remember and enjoy the most.
