I have experience teaching at many different levels. At the college and high school levels I taught Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, and First Aid for 6 years. I also taught for 13 years in elementary classrooms. While teaching lower elementary grades, I taught Reading Recovery and Title 1 for Reading and Math for 5 years. Also, as a full-time chiropractor for 13 years I had the joy of educating my own patients.
I want my classes to be both fun and educational. Students will remember more when they are having fun and being engaged. I don't believe in a lot of homework, but I do believe that homework should help students to apply what they have learned in class.
I received the "President's Award" from Palmer Chiropractic College for high grades.
Professional Background: I have 2 valid teaching licenses from the state of IL- Elementary Education K-9 with Science and English Certification for grades 5-8 and a Professional Career and Technical Educator Endorsement Teaching License for high school level classes in the field of medicine. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education Degree from Eureka College, IL. Then about 15 years later I received a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA. where I took over 45 hours of life science classes at the Graduate level in addition to the 12 hours already taken at the Associates level.
I have a chiropractic background as well as about 20 years of experience as a teacher, but I also enjoy working on hobbies such as crafting with my sister and making lessons about Native American Dances.
