I worked for 20 years as a middle school counselor and now teach part-time in the Counselor Education Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. Go Zags!! I teach graduate courses in Law and Ethics for School Counselors, Classroom Management for School Counselors and Trauma, Grief and Crisis Counseling. My yellow lab "Happy" and I were a Pet Partner Team for eight years. We visited local schools and hospitals to bring comfort and support to others.
My lessons are very experiential in nature.
I regularly present at the Washington School Counseling Association annual conference on topics such as, Violence Prevention, Anger Management, Implementing the ASCA National Model, Developing a Peer Helping Program, Working With Students Who Self-Injure and Preventing Sexual Harassment. I also presented a webinar for ASCA for new counselors called "The First Two Weeks".
I earned a Master's degree in Counseling from San Diego State University and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado
I have been teaching graduate students in school counseling since 2011 and have supervised interns for many years. I really enjoy teaching graduate students and am committed to their success as they begin their new professional school counseling careers!
