I have taught 5th and 6th grade Reading and English at Forest Hill Elementary for the last three years. Before becoming a teacher, I was in charge of training at the Home Depot Alexandria location for five years.
"An organized classroom is an effective classroom." I beleive that the classroom is for the students, and I try to make my classroom as "user-friendly" as possible. I also love incorporating technology into my lessons. I am lucky enough to have a Promethean board, ActivExpression remotes, netbooks, and desktop computers in my classroom. I also have access to Flip cameras, iPads, and iPods which I also try to use frequently.
Our school really pushes the Accelerated Reader program. I have earned Master Classroom for the last three years.
I earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English with a minor in Education from LSU Alexandria in 2009 where I was named "Student Teacher of the Year." Since college, I have been trained in the TAP program which has been in effect at my school for the last 8+ years. I have also attended several training programs on Promethean and Discovery Education.
My wife, Ashley, has been an elementary teacher for the last 9 years. She has taught Kindergarten and Pre-K and currently teaches Pre-K at Carter C. Raymond. Last year, we welcomed our first son, Henry, into our lives and couldn't be happier.
