Currently a 3rd year teacher in Virginia. I have taught both 4th and 2nd grade.
Student-Centered Approach to Learning: I place the student at the center of the learning process. I actively involve and engage students in their own learning by considering their individual needs, interests, and learning styles. I promote student autonomy, encourage critical thinking, and foster a collaborative learning environment where students have opportunities to explore, inquire, and take ownership of their education. Competency-Based Learning: I prioritize the development and mastery of specific skills or competencies in my teaching approach. Rather than focusing solely on the accumulation of knowledge, I emphasize the practical application and demonstration of skills by students. This approach allows students to progress at their own pace, ensuring they have a solid understanding of each competency before moving on to the next.
