TEACHING EXPERIENCE

One of the original teachers of a start up charter school who worked extensively with the curriculum committee developing the curriculum for 3rd - 5th grade. Wrote the kindergarten curriculum. Established the service delivery model of special education services working collaboratively with charter school general education teachers. Serving students with mild to moderate disabilities and a student with moderate to severe autism in a mixed resource / special day class environment. Integrated thematic units supporting grade level thematic units in the Learning Center lesson plans. Reading and Math Intervention Specialist for Elementary School. Designed and implemented remedial mathematics and language arts program for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Designed and implemented 5th Grade Science Club Program. Mapped the program to units in science and to the CA Standards. Mentored and supported Public Speaking participants in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a versatile and dedicated child advocate with a solid focus on the individual needs of the students. A professional who is compassionate and empathetic is flexible and accommodating in the design and implementation of inspiring lessons and activities that has high expectations for students and self. Addressing students’ needs in a positive, structured, learning environment is a skill I possess. Firm and fair behavioral and classroom management is crucial to providing a thriving positive learning environment along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
