My dream was to become a teacher and thankfully, directly out of college- that dream came true! :) I couldn't be happier to be teaching for the past three years! I have a true passion for this age level and curriculum. Third grade is such a pivotal year in children's lives and I am so grateful to be a part of it. I love the growth that occurs at this developmental stage: both cognitively and socially. Not only do students become self-reliant, but student collaboration tends to be life changing, community support deems unbreakable, and creativity and intellect are as sharp as ever! In addition to third grade as a full time general-education teacher, I taught pre-school for 3 years and student taught in a kindergarten and fourth grade classroom where I had the privilege of taking over the class!
Teaching style? I love try different things everyday! My teaching style is anything and everything that will keep the kiddos smiling, learning, and keep them coming back to school :) First and foremost, my teaching style is to get to know my students on a personal level. Through that bond, I then promote a variety of teaching strategies including technology, collaboration, games, etc. to keep students engaged and thriving!
PLTW Teacher
I graduated from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo (GO Mustangs) in 2014 with my bachelors in Liberal Studies and emphasis in Child Development. Following graduation, I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State East Bay in June of 2015.
Personally, I have grown up in a family of educators. My father has been an educator for the past 25+ years, while my sister has taught both 5th grade and resource for the past twelve years. Education runs in my blood! In fact, I just celebrated my one year wedding anniversary with my husband, who is also in education. My husband (still so exciting to say that!) will be entering his fourth year teaching History and AP Psychology at his alma mater in our home town. Having a relationship with a fellow teacher has been wonderful to share ideas, provide support, and expand our practices! My husband and I do have a new member to our family... our baby girl... NELLA! She is our 6 month old Siberian Husky and is a joy! Aside from my love for teaching and my puppy, I love to run. Additionally, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have three nieces that melt my heart! I love ice tea, fruit, hiking, shopping, biking, and going on adventures! More than anything- I love to LEARN and TEACH! :D
