From September to June for over 25 years, I have worked as a full-time teacher. I have walked through metal detectors to teach at a school with thousands of students in New York City and have driven hours across snow covered roads to teach at a small rural school with a few hundred students in Ohio. I have taught English, journalism, film, public speaking, and humanities to students in grades 6-12 across every placement from self-contained resource room classes to dual-enrollment college courses. If you happen to be reading this during the school day, I am standing in my classroom teaching, covering a class for a colleague, rushing through my 40 minute lunch, or sitting in a meeting- just like you. Over the years I've spent countless hours developing amazing resources to use with my own students. I focus on making fun and rigorous lessons that are adaptable to students of all levels, easy to grade, time-saving, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing. I know what it's like to walk into a classroom on the first day of school and be assigned to a new grade level, or subject, and have no materials or curriculum to follow. In my first teaching job I did not have books, or even desks, for weeks! My goal is to share the best of my teaching materials with you so that you are always prepared and have more free time and energy for your students, family, and yourself! Please consider following my page so that you will be notified when I upload new resources. Thanks so much for visiting Book Wise!
I want my classes to be fun, yet rigorous, for all. I strive to help students build on their strengths by teaching strategies to scaffold their learning.
