I have been teaching and coaching teachers in NYC public and charter schools for the last 10 years. I spent the majority of my career working in NYC's District 75, which is a specialized public school system for students with severe disabilities. There I worked with 14-21 year old students who had IEPs focused on independence, life skills, money management and activities of daily living. I ran a vocational program in and out of the school where students had opportunities to work a variety of jobs to gain the skills needed for after high school. I believe that every student can learn, but it is our job as teachers to adapt and meet each student where they are at. I also recognize how extremely difficult that is when you have limited time, resources and support. I want to be a support for teachers who need more specialized activities for their students, this way you have more time to do the teaching you love to do.
