By Better Than 1000 Days I have been a teacher for 20 years and love sharing my work with others. Passionate about global education, I hope that students leave my classroom with a greater understanding and appreciation of the world and the skills and confidence to create positive change. In addition, I am fascinated by cognitive science and its application to teaching and learning.
My first year of teaching a colleague gave me a poster that had this Japanese proverb on it. “Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.” It remains one of my favorite quotes because it is a constant reminder of the importance of this work and a call to be a great teacher to each and every student that walks through the doors of my classroom.
