I am a thrilled 1st year teacher. I added on my early childhood certification, so I have had lots of experience! Especially in the younger grades. My student teaching placement was a multi-age 2nd and 3rd grade class. We focused on small group teaching, as well as arts integration. I love technology integration as well. Anything that engages my students... I'm a fan of.
Constructivism, hands-on, minds-on, project based teaching, and arts integration are the teaching styles that I am most passionate about. Throughout my collegiate practicums I have researched many teaching styles, theories, and strategies. The "learn by doing" approach absolutely takes more time than printing off a worksheet, this constructivist approach engages student's minds like no other. Not to mention, the content retention rate is unbelievable, especially when integrating the arts.
I graduated with honors, summa cum laude (3.9). I was an officer in over 3 state and national education associations. I have attended the SC Early Childhood Association conference, sat through many consortium conferences (many of which taught about integration of technology), went to professional development courses (which included guided reading, the 1st days of school, and integration of the arts), and much more.
I graduated from North Greenville University May, of 2015. On that day I got a job offer at one of my favorite elementary schools and found out I passed Praxis. I could not have been more thrilled! My bachelors of arts degree is in elementary education, and I added on my early childhood certification as well.
When I am not planning, creating, organizing, and participating in all the other jobs that come along with being a teacher, I love to run, play the piano, spend time with family and friends, and decorate.
