I have degrees in vocal music education and library science. I spend 12 years at the middle school level teaching choir, general music, and integrated arts and humanities. For the last 9 years, I have been an elementary school library media specialist. I am also a national board teaching mentor.
I combine teacher directed activities, such as read alouds and presentations, with hands-on, student-centered activities such as learning centers. I like to use technology as much as possible. I like to involve my students in the stories I tell by letting them chant parts, role-play, or make sound effects for the story. Every story is a performance.
I am a national board certified teacher in library science and a national board teaching mentor.
Bachelors of Science in Vocal Music Education, Masters of Music, and Masters of Science in Library Science.
I am primarily responsible for library media classes. However, I also teach some drama and incorporate music into my lessons when possible.
