TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked in Special Education classrooms for 4 of the past 5 years, primarily in self-contained classrooms. I spent two consecutive years working with middle school students with severe emotional and academic challenges, as well as completed my student teaching in the same classroom. Last year, I taught 7th Grade ELA and 7th Grade Geography. This year, I get to continue teaching 7th ELA and begin teaching 8th Grade U.S. History!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prioritize student-centered approaches to learning by utilizing tailored whole-group instruction, student stations, student-led discussions, and differentiated approaches to learning (electronically, physically writing, project-based, etc.). Giving students options for technology applications of information is extremely important and empowering in the classroom by allowing for autonomy and engagement in learning.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with my Master's in Education- Humanities from Grand Canyon University in 2022. Prior to that, I obtained my Bachelor's of Arts in Christian Ministry- Youth in 2019 while juggling collegiate athletics, leadership roles on campus, and coaching middle and high school student athletes. My favorite teaching moment was completing my student teaching in the self-contained middle school classroom. We grew so much together, and I gained invaluable experiences as an educator learning top-tier classroom management and acquiring tools and skills to work with students from various social, emotional, and academic disability backgrounds.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Teaching and coaching are what I am most passionate about. When I am not teaching, I can be found on the Oregon coast with my partner or at home with the most handsome rescue kitty.
