My teaching experience began in college ranging from traditional K-12 classroom settings to alternative 9-12 classrooms. I student taught in a K-12 classroom for 8 weeks before teaching high school during my 2nd placement. Since graduating college, I've taught K-12 Art for the past 7 years including the following preps; -Kindergarten - 6th (Weekly Classes) -7th - 8th (Quarterly Rotation) -2D Studio and Adv. 2D Studio (Semesterly) -Ceramics and Adv. Ceramics (Semesterly) -3D Studio and Adv. 3D Studio (Semesterly) -Digital Art (Semesterly) -Independent Art/Arts Experience (Semesterly)
My classroom uses both a teacher and student centered learning approach. Each project/unit I introduce starts with a keynote to introduce and/or review any new content. Next we look at a featured artist, their work, then discuss our learning objectives and project details! The demonstrations we do in class are either done in-person or include step-by-step photos included in our keynotes. From there kids move into their own work time and complete projects at their own pace before completing an artist statement and updating their class portfolio via Seesaw or Google Classroom!

I come from a big teaching family and have a passion for developing curriculum! My husband also teaches and together we have a little boy and pet cat. Outside of teaching I work on creating stationery designs for weddings and other special events, trying new coffee shops, spending summers out on the water, and enjoying time with friends and family!
