With more than thirteen years' experience in urban and suburban middle and high schools schools teaching science and ESL, I have become accustomed to finding ways to make science and other subjects accessible and help students to mastery of both skills and content.
I love to mix hands-on, visuals, reading and writing, learning games, and self-assessment in units so that students have multiple ways of learning.
I always loved learning myself, and was a scientist before I became a teacher. An award I am proud of is the best student research paper at a scientific meeting - an achievement because I was so scared!
I have a B.S. in Biology, an M.S. in Soils and Crops (Agronomy), and other graduate credits in ecology and science education. I am certified in General Science, Biology, Earth Science, and ESL.
I love learning, reading, gardening, hiking, cooking, and exploring!
