I currently teach 3rd-5th grade Lifeskills in a very small town in Washington state. I work with the most severe disabilities in the district, including Fragile X, down syndrome, autism, and more. My kiddos function ranging from ages 10 months-5 years.
I very much believe in teaching my kids what is essential for them to know in life, and what natural consequences are. Because of the severity of their disabilities and the extreme needs they have, it is important that they know how to survive in the real world and that we don't necessarily spend too much time on factors that won't be beneficial in the long run.
I won Teacher of the Year in my district in 2015!
I completed my undergraduate degree at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. I received my teaching certifications in Elementary Education, Special Education, Reading, and Early Childhood Special Education. I am currently have a Masters of Science in Psychology. I also am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
I am married to a wonderful middle school teacher who has an equal amount of passion for teaching that I do. No kids yet... we both get enough of those at school!
