I am an assistant professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I have worked on campuses spanning grades Pre-K through 12 for the past 24 years. I still love middle schoolers! I hold a BA in elementary education from Northwestern Louisiana University, an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and an MA in Educational Leadership both from Louisiana State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette.
Teaching students to think and make connections across the content and across all contents is my main focus. Building solid background knowledge with the ability to predict, infer, synthesize and evaluate are keys to students who will rule the next 100 years.
I am National Board Certified in Early Adolescence Mathematics. In 2003, I was named a Milken Educator and have served on several panels concerning American education. In 2006 I was blessed to share Disney's Outstanding Teacher of the Year with my partner teachers, Monique Wild and Kathryn Edmonds.
