TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm in my tenth year of teaching secondary English. I have taught in a variety of schools and have had the pleasure of teaching students from all walks of life. I work hard to utilize these experiences in all of the materials I create.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Ultimately, I want my students to see the value in reading and writing. As often as I can, I connect the content of my curriculum to their lives and what is going on in the world around them. The content becomes far more engaging and the students can see its relevancy. I won't be able to get every one of my students to fall in love with reading and writing, but I can do my part in helping them use their own literacy to become better humans and world citizens.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Anytime a student has referred to me as their "second mom." In that moment, it's clear they understand how much I care about them and their success.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's degrees in English and journalism
Master's degree in secondary English education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I don't shy away from tough classroom discussions that allow my students to grow and see things from different perspectives.
