I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and special education. I started teaching general education in the 2016-2017 school year. Before that, I taught for 6 years in special education at an elementary school, and I worked closely with general education teachers. I taught mild-moderate disabilities, so most students were in their classroom 80% of the time or more. My groups were based on student need, so I had some pull out groups, but I also co-taught and co-planned with general education teachers for a majority of my groups. I am just getting started on creating documents for TpT, so I am learning a lot! I look forward to sharing with and learning from all of you!
Building a positive relationship with my students is vital to helping them learn. I strive to have a classroom environment where everyone is welcome and students feel safe, even when they make mistakes. I plan engaging lessons that include: hands-on activities, movement activities, visuals, cooperative groups, and more. I believe the more the students are doing, the more they will learn. I am there to guide and teach, but when possible, the students should be actively doing the learning, rather than listening to a lecture.
