I have taught students in all ability levels (special education, collaborative, general, college-prep, advanced, pre-AP, and AP). I taught as Shelby County High School for one year before moving to Bowling Green to teach at Franklin-Simpson High School. I was in the English classroom for 7 years. I then left to pursue a career as a travel agent, however I stayed on part-time to teach ACT reading and English test-taking skills and interventions, as well as manage a senior internship program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my school needed me to shift to virtual teaching for freshmen, so this year I will be teaching solely from home and online in Google Classroom.
I am all about clear communication with students. I like students to know the "end" and keep it in mind throughout a unit. I want students to be successful on assessments and therefore I prepare them adequately. I plan my units in a backward fashion to reflect this. I work backward from assessments and use standards to create day-by-day instruction that is meaningful and purposeful.

I enjoy being a work-from-home mom to my son Paxton, and wife to author and marketer, Josh. I am dog mom to three yorkie-poos all named after super heroes: Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, and Wally West! I enjoy reading (truly any genre but nonfiction and mysteries are probably my favorite) and listening to podcasts (anything true crime or social issues). I love to travel near and far. As a travel agent, I love to organize trips for my clients. I am an avid at-home cook and love all things HGTV and Food Network!
