With over a decade in education, I have taught junior high through university level Spanish. I currently teach Spanish 1 and 2 at public high school, and teach as an adjunct at a university. I also have years of experience teaching Spanish 3 and 4 and exploratory Spanish. I originally developed many of my products while teaching some very burned out college students during the two years I worked on my MA, and now I spend time perfecting my ideas!
I would love to say I stay communicative 100% of the time, but...I find a well placed joke or story in English can really liven up the room :) What's most important to me is encouraging students to produce the target language! I accomplish this by using interactive, comprehensible input and creating activities that encourage students to produce the language. At the same time, I find students need structure and support to gain confidence in the target language. My resources are made with this in mind. I try to stay away from using traditional "old school" language activities like translation. My goal is to get students to associate vocabulary to concepts rather than English words as early as possible in their language learning. I prefer to put new vocabulary and grammar in context through communicative activities. My products center around encouraging students to interpret and produce the target language in contexts that make sense to them at their level!
