As a 1st grade teaching assistant, I contributed to a nurturing classroom environment for 3 years, fostering young learners' academic and social emotional progress. My passion for education extended to tutoring, where I provided guidance in subjects spanning from 1st grade to 12th, cultivating a deep understanding of math, science, social studies, and language arts, while also offering valuable high school and college preparation support over a span of 4 years. Further enriching my involvement in education, I coached high school speech and debate for 2 years. During this time, I imparted critical communication skills, strategic thinking, and confident public speaking abilities to students, resulting in notable achievements in competitive events.
My teaching style is deeply rooted in student-centered learning, with a focus on fostering growth through both facilitation and demonstration. I firmly believe in meeting each student at their unique level and nurturing their individual strengths. Recognizing that everyone has a distinct learning approach, I am dedicated to tailoring my methods to suit their needs, ensuring an inclusive and effective learning environment. My goal is not only to impart subject knowledge but also to equip students with essential life skills. I prioritize values such as respect, responsibility, critical thinking, and problem-solving, aiming to instill these qualities as they progress in their educational journey. By integrating these values into the learning experience, I aim to prepare my students for success in both their academic pursuits and the broader world.
While a member of the El Camino College Speech and Debate Team, I secured noteworthy victories, including a 1st place finish in Impromptu Speaking at the Crossman Invitational, and another 1st place triumph in Parliamentary Debate at the PSCFA 2018 Championship. My dedication to Speech and Debate was further rewarded with honors such as a 2nd place finish for Best Speaker at IPDA Nationals, a 1st place victory in IPDA Debate at the Watson Lancer Invitational, and 1st place in multiple speech and debate events at the Jannese Davidson Tournament, earning the Jannese Davidson Scholarship.
I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts from California State University, Long Beach, and am a current graduate student at the University of Hawaii, receiving a Masters in Education.
