TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Throughout my undergraduate and graduate education, I have gained valuable teaching experience! I student taught in a fourth grade suburban classroom and a first/second 12:1:1 urban classroom. Both experiences gave me the opportunity to create engaging and effective lessons and activities for students! I am currently a Reading Intervention teacher (for the past 2 and 1/2 years) working with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to improve their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and love of reading. I greatly enjoy creating artistic, fun, and efficient lessons and activities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that it's my job as a teacher to instill a love of learning in all my students and create engaging lessons and activities that reach all my students! I have found that students respond well with hands-on activities and problem based learning that they can relate to their own lives. My lessons and activities are creative and fun while striving to meet the needs of students!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In addition to being a Middle School teacher, I am the 5th/6th Grade Art Club Advisor. I love being able to incorporate my love of art into my day and hopefully help to instill an appreciation and love of art into my Art Club students. I am also the co-Advisor for the Middle School Math Olympiad, where we are able to work with students to improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills in addition to their love of math!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from SUNY Geneseo, NY in May 2011 with a Bachelors double major in Elementary/Special Education and Mathematics. I then went right on to earn my Masters degree in Literacy (Birth-12) in May 2012. I believe that by having a well-rounded education and being certified to teach Elem/SPED, Literacy B-12, and Mathematics 7-12 I am able to meet the needs of all my students. :)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love teaching but when I'm not at school or working on creating engaging activities for my students, I love to be outside, play sports, and spend time with my family and friends!
