With over 25 years of experience as an early childhood special education teacher, I specialize in creating fun, interactive books for young children with autism. My books, designed to connect and engage, support non-speaking learners by incorporating matching pictures for vocabulary development. Committed to making learning accessible and enjoyable, I also focus on empowering fellow educators through shared teaching strategies and resources.
My teaching style is centered around inclusivity and engagement, prioritizing interactive, sensory-based learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs. I emphasize visual aids and real-life applications to enhance understanding and retention. Passionate about fostering a supportive and understanding community, I incorporate best practices in special education to ensure that all children, especially those with autism, can learn effectively in a fun, nurturing environment.

I earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Kansas State University in 1993 and a Master's of Science in Early Childhood Special Education from Fort Hays State University in 2001. My education has grounded my teaching philosophy and practices, particularly in inclusivity and specialized learning strategies.
An avid Disney park enthusiast and audiobook listener, I find joy and inspiration outside the classroom that I bring into my teaching. I rely on my iPad as an emotional support tool, using it for doodling and coloring to manage anxiety. Deeply committed to the neurodivergent movement, I champion the mantra, "let autistic kids be autistic kids," promoting acceptance and understanding within my community and beyond.
