In my eleven years of experience at the high school level, I have taught classes at the freshman, sophomore, and junior level. I have a strong background in both American and World literature, and I taught composition for many years. After earning an M.A. in English from the University of Illinois in 2010, I also began working as a part-time English instructor at Benedictine University in Springfield, Illinois.
I encourage a collaborative environment in all of my classes. I think students work best when they are both challenged to excel and allowed the opportunity to grow. I try to strike a balance between individual, student-driven analysis and collaborative work.
I serve as a faculty leader on our building leadership team. I received an honorarium from Illinois College in 2013 after the publication of my novel, The Price of Loyalty (Punkin House, 2011).
I received my undergraduate degree from Illinois College in 2002. (B.S. in English, Non-fiction Writing). I completed my Master's degree through the University of Illinois in 2010 (M.A. in English, Creative Writing Closure Project). I teach part-time as an Adjunct Instructor at Benedictine University in Springfield, IL.
I live in Williamsville, Illinois with my wife, Molly, and our children, Alex and Amelia.
