I started teaching in Richmond, Virginia in August of 2020! I've taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra Functions & Data Analysis, and Algebra 2 over the course of my career. Within these classes, I've taught collaborative sections, general sections, and honors sections.
The majority of my teaching experience has been with struggling learners; therefore, I teach with an eye towards universal design. I try to design my class to be inclusive and inviting, with easy access points to all mathematical topics. Additionally, I consistently use scaffolded notes to help students make explicit connections and provide a reference sheet as they begin group or independent work. In order to keep the class engaging, I use many different types of activities, like around the room, scavenger hunt, task cards, matching/sorting, and other types of group work.
