What educators are saying

This was exactly what I needed! The kids loved writing their stories and the outlines were super helpful for organization.

Description

Are you working on inferring with your students? Use an exciting, mysterious book to help them practice utilizing their inferring skills!

This lesson should be used after students after learned some about inferring. It is a great way to practice what they've learned.

The book, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, features interesting and strange illustrations with elusive titles and lines. In this lesson plan, you will walk through the book with your class, and then have them infer what Harris Burdick intended the stories to be about, using the pictures and words. Once they make inferences, they can take what they know to write their own Harris-Burdick-inspired story!

This purchase includes the following:
1) detailed lesson plan, with CCSS and EL differentiation included
2) inferring graphic organizer to scaffold student thinking
3) pre-writing graphic organizer to plan original story
