What a great companion activity to the book. The kids had a lot of fun with this, and loved to take it home to read to their parents.
Description
This is a 53 page "The Foot Book" by Dr. Seuss unit with activities especially designed for my preschool and kindergarten kids using a touch of Montessori activities in mind. However, lesson level is also good for preK to 2nd grade students.
This is a great activity to use with your next Dr. Seuss unit, for “Read Across America” Day or just any day you wish to do book related activities.
Activities included:
LANGUAGE ARTS
1) "The Foot Book" - The typed version of the book for group/guided reading.
2) My Family Foot Book - Craft/art book to create footprints of family members. (Good for homework)
3) My Opposite Flip Book - A flip book with the antonyms found in the book (words and pictures included). It also includes option for students to create their own antonyms. Work involves cutting, gluing, writing, coloring and reading.
4) My Sight Words Foot Book - Booklet with collection of nouns and pre K to Third Grade fry and dolch sight words found in "The Foot Book". Students may do a color by letter, letter painting or collage.
MATH
1) My Foot's Measurement - Students will measure their foot using 3 different tools.
2) Measurement by Foot Book - A flip book with collection of furniture found in class and at home that students can measure by foot.
3) Find the Pair! - A puzzle center activities. We did not laminate this activity. I just let my kids cut the puzzle pieces and play with them. When they were done, they used paper clip to put the puzzle pieces together and a binder clip to attach the pieces in their composition notebook.
You may use all activity pages as part of your interactive notebook or lapbook, Language Arts Center or Word Work Daily 5 activities. You may also use some pages as part of book fair.
