What educators are saying

I really liked this themed write the room! It is also great that it comes with lines for writing sentences for students who finish the word searching quicker than others. Would love more themed ones like this too!
The kids get so excited about "write the room" activities and this was perfect for my on level and advanced kiddos. I actually paired them up so they could help each other when needed.

Description

Do your students need more CVC word practice? This "write the room" literacy center is great practice for writing CVC words. It can also be used in a small group setting or as a whole class activity by showing the picture cards on your smart board with a document camera while students record the words on the recording sheet provided after discussing each word.

This fall write the room resource includes two pages of numbered pumpkins in color with six cards per page. Each numbered card has a picture of a CVC word in color on it. There are 12 total numbered cards. The CVC words include all five vowels (a, e, i, o, and u). Teachers should copy the cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), cut apart, and then post the cards around the room. If you don't want students walking around the room, the cards can be put in a center such as at the writing center or in a pocket chart.

Students will get a recording sheet (provided) with spaces to write 12 CVC words. Each space has three boxes for writing the words. Students will roam the room to find the cards. After finding a card, the student will look at the number on the card, find the matching number on their recording sheet, and write the CVC word for the picture on the card. Example: Card number one has a picture of a lid, so students will write the word "lid" on number one on their recording sheet. If students finish early, two numbered writing sheets (1-6 and 7-12) with plain lines is provided for students to make a sentence with each word from their recording sheet.

An answer key is provided for the recording sheet either as a self-check for students or for the teacher to have an answer key to quickly check papers.

The 12 CVC words included are lid, hut, bag, pop, cut, red, wig, top, vet, fan, zip, and bus.

***There are six total pages including an answer key: 2 card pages, 1 recording sheet, 1 answer key to recording sheet, 2 lined pages for writing sentences.

The PREVIEW shows every page included.

This activity is great for a literacy center, writing center, or word work activity.

I hope your students have fun with this "Write the Room" activity.
