Description
This Stock Market Simulation can be completed in one class period and contains a print and digital version. In this activity, high school students will imagine they had $5,000 to invest in 2017 (stock list provided). Your students will select 6 stocks, determine the number of shares purchased, and calculate the total price for each stock. From this, they will compute their initial investment value. Next, students will research the stock price for the companies they selected on the day they complete the activity (this illustrates how the stock market has grown as time has passed). Students will then calculate the current investment value of their portfolio and capital loss or gain. After the activity, you can have students record their capital gains on the board to serve as a competition and see who would have made the most money in the stock market. 8 Open-ended questions are also provided for students to reflect on their learning. This activity is perfect for a Personal Finance or Introduction to Business course.
Included in this product:

You can have students work individually or with a partner based on your educational setting. The actual Google Slides™ presentation does NOT allow you to edit each slide individually.
