Description

As a school-based occupational therapist, I have found that children benefit from participating in a hands-on construction process to learn spatial planning and sequencing skills. One Little Snowman was created to support development of visual perceptual skills for positional and sizing concepts as well as for building an understanding of parts-to-whole and sequencing. The story may be sung to the tune of "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Patterns have been provided to allow felt or paper pieces to be made so children may "build a snowman" that matches the one in the book. A smaller pattern along with "Helpful Hints" have been provided for individual projects whereas the larger pattern could be used for a whole-group model/activity.
