Shades of Meaning - Awesome Adjectives

Teaching nuances of words starts in First Grade and continues throughout the grades. Increase student's vocabulary with this Shades of Meaning packet. This packet includes 12 different cards with nuances of 12 common adjectives.

Working with synonyms gets students thinking about their word choices in writing and in daily conversations. The results are -- an increased VOCABULARY! Increasing students vocabulary is a goal at ALL levels.

I used paint cards for years, but have found it increasingly difficult to find them with more than three shades. That is why I began making my own. Once I got started my kids wanted more and more! My first graders love using the cards and by the end of the year they all have their favorite 'big' word from one of the cards which they love to use!


In this packet you will find 12 'shades of meaning' cards including cards for:

happy

bad
good
little
nice
pretty
mad
kind
funny
scared


Each word card comes in 3 different sizes. 12 Blank cards are also included in the same 3 different sizes. (additional blank cards in different colors are found in other Shades of Meaning packets)


A poster including all 12 cards including 120 words is also included in two versions. The first one has a black background and the second poster has a white background.
