Description
Students need many opportunities to discuss their thinking when it comes to math concepts. This resource is intended to be used as part of your daily math block in helping your students talk about math concepts during a 'number talk'. In order for your students to develop number sense and addition and subtraction fluency, it is crucial that they talk about math concepts every day. You can decide how many slides you would like your students to discuss on a daily or weekly basis. This resource will allow them to 'talk' about the following Kindergarten math concepts:
(K.CC.B.4) When counting objects, say the numbers in order, pairing each object with only one number and each number with only one object (one-to-one correspondence) up to 20
(K.CC.B.4) Understand the last number said (when counting) tells the number of objects counted (Cardinality)
(K.CC.B.4)Understand that each successive number refers to a quantity that is one larger
(K.CC.B.4)Understand that the number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted
(K.CC.B.5) Count up to 10 objects in a scattered configuration
(K.CC.C.8)Quickly Identify a number of items in a set from 0-5 without counting (Subitize) (e.g. dominoes, dot cubes, tally marks, ten-frames)
(K.G.A.2) Correctly name shapes regardless of orientation (the way they are turned-upside down or sideways) or overall size
(K.CC.A.3) Read numerals up to 10
(K.CC.A.3) Represent a number of objects between 0 and 10 with a written numeral
(K.CC.C.6) Identify whether the number of objects in one group from 0-10 is greater than (more, most), or equal to (same as) the number of objects in another group of 0-10 using matching and counting strategies
(K.MD.A.1) Describe several measurable attributes of a single object, including but not limited to length, weight, height, and temperature
(K.MD.A.2)Describe the difference when comparing two objects side by side with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has more of or less than the common attribute
