Description
Are you ready to pop some popcorn, make ice cream in a bag, or maybe even learn about the Kentucky Derby? If so, these reading comprehension passages are for you. Each passage teaches your students fun information and also requires them to give EVIDENCE from the text. These passages are perfect to use during the spring season or the weeks leading up to summer break! After all, the end of the school year definitely requires a little extra FUN!
In my own classroom I typically use these passages during my small group instruction. During the first reading, I have my students number the paragraphs or subheadings (If the passage includes paragraphs or subheadings.) During the second reading my students take notes directly on the text. They make inferences, draw conclusions, circle vocabulary, etc. As my students complete the comprehension activities, I ALWAYS require them to underline, circle, or highlight the evidence in the text.
I hope your students enjoy these activities as much as mine do!
